Anyone have any good recommendations for portable air?
Not looking for a permanent install. Would be great if it was a combo battery/power brick. A good air compressor combo with something like a jackery would be ideal.
Not a heavy off-roader, just off grid camping with the fam. My current combo unit sucks. Air compressor overheats and shuts down after airing up one tire a few psi.

If it were me, I would not bother trying to find a decent combo unit. The air compressor in them is usually a small little unit best suited for inflating sports equipment or other small items.
As far as a battery pack / jump box, I had purchased my dad a Clore Jump and Carry box about 10 years ago that has worked fine when he has used it for other people. They even offer a one time battery replacement for it at a reduced cost. They have different sizes so you could gauge just exactly what you would need. If you do like camping often, perhaps look into a second battery that you can simply bring with you and use an inverter on, perhaps even with a small solar panel to keep it charged. Or you could even install a dual battery system on the XJ..
As far as an air compressor, I have had good luck with Viair compressors. I have a 440p compressor that I have used for about 10 years, it ran about $275. I purchased this style because I sometimes go on the beach near me, and then would have to air up 4 31" tires from 16 to 32 psi, and I do not like waiting a long time to do it. It can be harder to air up small things like bicycle tires, because you can easily over inflate them. They do have a smaller model (88p) that I had purchased for my dad that he has used to add a few pounds to tires that are low, but not too low. It is a little more budget friendly but still decent at $70.

I received a li-ion jump start power pack from Napa a couple years ago, similar to Schumacher SL1317. It jumped a dual battery 7.3l diesel.
