Another XJ & Miata owner here. Funny thing is the XJ and Miata are kinda' alike in that they are sometimes snobishly dismissed by other 4-wheelers/sports car owners.

Just as there is nothing better than out wheeling a $30k rig in your $4k XJ, there is nothing better than losing a $60k Porsche in the twisties in a $5k Miata.
If Rushin is pushing 200 whp in a Miata, his power to weight ratio would mean he can easily tangle with Boxters and the like.

And yes, wheel weight makes a big difference that you can feel. Even a few lbs a wheel is noticeable.

just my $.02

ZJ wheels $20 a piece. I think they are heavier than the steel stockers

Been looking around and it looks like no one really makes wheels in 4" or 4.5" backspacing. All wheels I see are 3.75". :-(

Go to JY, look for factory offered alloys. Or check craigslist.

I totally agree with this statement! And on a vehicle as small as a Miata, Im very sure you would feel the diference in wheel weight.

I just don't really like how the wheels stick out 2" past the fenders. I can live with 4" backspacing but 3.75 will be too much.

1/4"? haha. You really couldn't tell the difference honestly. Not without focusing very hard.
