Rear Door Speakers
I replaced all the old speakers in the front doors and hatch since they were completely fried, got a new pioneer stereo, and then got the idea from a buddy to put some 6x9's in the rear doors also. Has anyone done this before? As of now it's just an idea, but if someone could post pictures of how they did it or just a simple explanation I would appreciate it. I feel like having some extra speakers will make it sound pretty good. I also have a 12inch sub to put in once I get all the stuff I need.

I asked the sound system place in my town and they said there would be a bunch of other components you'd need if you wanted to add more speakers. Something about ohms or bridges or something.

You'll need to open up the existing speaker holes from 5.25 to 6X9". And then the carpeted panel also. You can use a jig saw or a keyhole saw on the fiber (glastic) panel inside the hatch, and on the carpeted interior panel. there is write ups on it here in the forum. I myself am using 2 5.25" in the front doors, 2 6x9" in the rear Hatch, 1 10" sub in the rear cargo pocket, and a 1400 Watt 5 channel amp to power the 5 speakers. My head unit has 6 RCA pre-outputs that I have running to the amp under the rear seat. It sounds great, to me! I did throw a piece of dynomat on the inside of the hatch. To cut down on outside noise (sound) levels. I did the same behind the sub. So the answer is YES! I also run all new speaker wire, new amp power & ground leads, 3 new pairs of 25' RCA cables (Radio Shack) from the dash to the rear seat. In the channel under the door sills. Do not run your power leads along side your speaker wire. Or all you will hear is the alternator buzzing, in time to your RPM.. I also spray painted all the speaker grills to match the carpeting. So they don't stand out. To any nosy people trying to peck in. I don't like sub boxes or aftermarket speakers being real obvious, And screaming to be stolen. JMO! P.S. measure carefully a couple of times, because you get one shot at the cutting. I mounted My 6x9's vertically.

I'll have to look into it more when the time comes then. Thanks guys! It'll probably be a few paychecks down the road from now.
