Default RC Cherokee

I posted a few pics of my RC XJ last week and sense my PM box has been blowin up. Im gonna Start this Thread so we can get a bunch of questions answered......and show off our new XJ Crawlers.

I started here http://www.rccrawler.com/forum/forumdisplay.php?f=160 and did some reasearch so I could figure out what I needed to get.

First I went an picked up an Axial SCX-10 Honcho kit #AX 048055 and started to build. For the electronics I am using:

Futaba 3PM-MX Radio
Tekin FX-R ESC
Tekin 35t motor
Hi-tec 645 mg servo
1600 mha Hyperion battery

Mods:
I replaced the stock Axial shocks with a set of Team Losi 4" crawler shocks, I like the way they work and the fact that they are very adjustable. The losi's are longer than the stock SCX shocks so the truck sits a little higher, but the suspension articulates a lot better which helps it crawl like crazy.

I also Mirrored the trans (built it backwards) to put the motor on the right side of the truck to cut down on the torque twist that is very common with shaft driven trucks.

Im running 3oz of lead stick on wheel weights in each front wheel and 2oz in the rears this helps the suspension cycle better and keeps all you tires on the rocks. I have also drilled two 8th inch vent holes in all the wheels to make the tires run flat-ish for better traction.

Im pretty big into RC Crawlers right now, and over all I have to say this is about as fun as wheeling my real cherokee. Everytime I run this thing im suprised as to what it will climb over and do. Total cost was around $500 dollars but this can be done cheaper with less expensive electronics.

Thanks Jeff.
I have an old T-Maxx that will now have CPR done to it.
Don't know how long I have wanted an XJ body, but really lost interest.

Total cost was around $500.... but, Axial offers the RTR (Ready to run) version for around $300.... Just add batteries a charger and a XJ body your looking $375-ish.

The worst part is these things are as addicting as real Jeeps but all the upgrades cost 20 bucks...it adds up quick. The night I got this kit I was up until 3am........ on a work night...... putting it together.....with beer. 7am was a rough start the next day.

Did a search before posting so thought I'd use this thread to show off my Axial SCX10 Cherokee. I'm in the UK and RC crawling isn't as popular here as in the US but I live close to the sea so lots of beach rock to crawl over

The colours of the RC and my 1:1 XJ are more similar in the flesh than in the pictures. If I have a complaint, it's that I should have blacked the window frames.
