For those of you who have done a rattle can paint job...what did you do to prep the vehicle?

Wash it and then knock the shine off with scotch pads.

Then tape off what you don't want painted and blow the dust off and wipe down with thinner and you should be good to spray.

Before you rattle can the truck see if there is a local community college who needs car for the kids to paint. I took a car up and it cost me less than $100. it wasnt perfect, but they filled in little dents and scratches for me, primed, and put a single color paint on it for me. It actually looked pretty good.

Find an email for the teacher on line and get in touch with him

The paints they use tend to stick a little better than rattle can stuff which can peel in a few years.
