I got the 2nd set from sears about 2 years ago for 45 dollars when they were on sale and with a coupon.

i've never liked the flex head ratcheting wrenches. at least with the ones i've used, the flex head tends to do its own thing and can become unlocked and start moving around where you dont want it to. just buy the regular ratcheting wrenches and you'll be fine. i have craftsman and they work great for me

Hey, Lowrange2, can you please answer the question for us? I will ask again, since you ignored it.

Why did you say for SnapOn.. "This particular set is essential for working on a Jeep Cherokee" ?
Are you saying SnapOn is the ONLY way to go, and that GearWrench wrenches are useless for working on Jeeps?

No. Why are you taking that so literal? You think that is seriously the only thing to use?

Go buy craftsman and gearwrench at sears and if not, go to Lowes and get kobalt

this. my fixed head ratcheting wrenches have turned bolts for the last 5 years on most everything. they're handy as hell. whoever mentioned the flex heads doing their own thing couldn't be more accurate.

I prefer harbor freight hand tools to craftsman. I've broke craftsmans but not HF and HF also has a lifetime warranty and their **** is like 1/3 as much.

That particular set has an 18mm, of which there are a few on the cherokee... and most sets don't throw the 18 in there.

I'm a Rover tech ( but drive a Jeep) and my box is full of SnapOn. It's taken years and a serious investment. However, in my trail bag in the Jeep it's a mix of SnapOn(which I picked up used on CL for a steal) and old style Craftsman.

The old craftsman stuff is rugged and durable. The new stuff not so much.

But, what I came here to relay was, the first thing I would look for in a ratchet type wrench is this. Feel the number of teeth on the ratchet end. More teeth( a finer feel) will allow you to do more quickly in a confined space( less "swing" required to turn the tool). It will make short work of removing whatever needs to come off.

Now for the flex head question,...I've lost more skin because of them. I prefer the fixed variety.

SnapOn is great stuff, but not a "must have" by any means.

Are you serious? That's why you said Snap-on is "essential"?
So you're telling beginner people to pay $125 more just to have an 18mm wrench?
Are you that stupid? Or, do you just think you're funny telling people to waste their hard earned money with your nonsense advice?

Trolls like Lowrange2 make the rest of the Jeep community look bad.
It's time to start blocking useless trolls like Lowrange2.

I have flex heads and regular ratchet wrenches. Both have there pros and cons. $50 for 20 is a steal, I might hop on that deal. Personally I'll use any brand with a good warranty and price. I work at Harbor Freight so I can get good deals there.

He does nothing but troll every thread I start, intentionally giving bogus advice.
He must think he's funny, but it's really sad and pathetic.
He's a straight up troll who has nothing better to do than to annoy and confuse people trying to learn something about their Jeeps.
I wish he would just stay off my threads.

One more question, what oversize wrenches would you buy to supplement the standard sized wrenches that come with a typical Craftsman 255 pc set?
