I probably won't even use the SAE.
More importantly, they are not flex/offset, just FLAT.
when the wrench is flat, your hand might not have clearance from the surface the bolt is mounted on. That's why the box end is usually angled.

Is is smarter to spend more money on a metric only set that has flex heads?

Most people here don't use Snap-on.
I think the GearWrench might be adequate at half the cost.

But what about the actual question I asked?

I use craftsman. Most mechanics I know use snap on or matco.

If you aren't going to use SAE I'd save the money. But keep in mind those swivel heads may not be the best to work with either.

In the end of the day, with the problems you post about....it may just be better to not buy tools and just take it to a shop.

I use craftsman due to the excellent warrenty and quality. I have regular wrenches and then both metric and standard ratching box end craftsman set that I love. It was 80 for both metric and sae and well worth the money in my opinion.

Alot of times you can buy good tools such as snap on at a pawn shop or off of craigslist for nearly half off. I got most of my tools in one shot by buying a snap on tool box full of tools, may want to consider that route. Also remember just because you don't need it now doesn't mean you won't later.

Tho, I guess the question you asked is if it's worth the extra to buy the angled wrenches... Me? No. The straight ones work just fine for me.

You? Yes. You seem to have difficulty with standard hand tools so I'd go with the easiest to use. That'd be the last link you posted. The "offset" wrench will be easier on your tender lawyer/politician hands.

i have the blue-point set in standard and sae with the angled ratchet end, not the flex. 10 years with no problems. good investment.

You're really telling newcomers to the Jeep world that they have no choice but to buy used SnapOn wrenches for $250 when they can get a set of GearWrench for $110? You're saying the Gearwrench of Crafstman sets are not good enough to use on a Jeep?

You honestly think this is good advice?
I'd love to hear what other people think of LowRange's advice to only buy SnapOn wrenches?

I have craftsman ratcheting wrenches which are junk!!! They work but there sure are hard to use in tight spots.

I also have the fixed gear wrench set and I love them they work great hardly any movement and they engage for those tight spots. I also have a set of gear wrench flex head ratcheting wrenches and they are my new favorite tool. I love them they work great. If you can but the flex head. I would get the complete set metric and sae because chances are your jeep will not be the only thing you use them on.

U are twisting his words. He was giving his opinion. Just because LR2 feels strongly about SnapOn that's his prerogative. The op ask for opinions not facts. You shouldn't try to bring facts to an opinion fight. There are no winners in those type of fights.

Me personally I use a variety of hand tools. 1/2inch I love snapon 3/8 snapon or craftsman. 1/4 crafstman. Wrenchs I have some of all. I use my metric fixed gearwrench for most jobs. I have broken 1 13mm so far. Carry stanley in the jeep so I don't loose or mess up expensive tools on a ride

Flex heads are nice but I have busted my knuckles more with them than any tool in the box.

They don't have to be used. They can be new. I just figured folks would prefer the "used" price.

What's so sad is that his is the OP.

Either way, I'm proud he's buying tools it's just a shame that he's buying ratchet wrenches instead of something to cut that nut in half. :\

Holy crap man don't go off on the guy for giving his option just like I posted I got 90% snap on/Mac (pro tool) for under or about the same as what you would if you bought the same craftsman tools new, just buy in bulk like I said. good luck

Oh btw I bought most of those tools while working part time in high school so there not that pricey. If you want to have the right tool to get the job done your going to spend good $, other wise take the same $1,000 and pay a shop to do what ever work you need done at the time.
