Default R215 tires too small?

I got my 95 Cherokee Sport used, with the stock suspension, and it has R235 tires on it. I'm ready for new tires, and the door sticker says R215! If I put the model in the online tire store searches, they suggest R225s... What's best for daily driving? Is there a reason NOT to get the manufacturer's recommended R215?

I would just put 235s back on it and be done. You will be fine with them.

You can put 215's, 225's, or 235's and be fine for daily driving. I am almost certain the manufacturer recommends 215's for the simple reason of hitting fuel mileage regulations.

Default Why?

I appreciate the advice, but it would be nice to know WHY you recommend 235s instead of the standard. Better handling? Load? Mileage? Did Jeep just get it wrong? Is it because that's what everybody does?

Nice size tire, usually evens speedo %, better load, doesnt rev as high, also more clearance.

It's for looks mostly, higher load rating, and more ground clearance. 215/225s look goofy IMHO and are going to net you a little bit better milage than the 235. I'll sacrifice the mpg for looks any day, within reason of course.

With shipping to me that is $78.39 and you still have to get them mounted and balanced.
