Default quick question for the 4 door XJ drivers here

Looking at a possible XJ purchase in the near future but need to make sure my German shephard will fit in the cargo area. Can one of you all measure it for me next time you are working in your XJ? I will have passengers in the back seat so I need to make sure she will have enough room in the cargo area with all seats in use. Thanks. A picture of a large dog in the back of a cherokee would be awesome to convince the wife too. Or would a Grand Cherokee be more suitable for the job?

Driving the attached yota for the last 11 years. But need more room for adventure now.

Absolutely. The cargo area is pretty big. Even bigger when you remove the full-size spare or donut. The notch right above the Wheel well is where the back seat clicks in, so you have all that room:

No need to measure. My Siberian Husky fits back there fine with room to spare. He's just a tad smaller than the Shep.

My 2 90 lbs Weimaranars fit. With the seat down. But I leave the rear seat up, because they like to hang their heads out the windows.

My 70 lb lab/husky mix and my 55 lb pit for back there. You should be good unless he's one of those giant 120 pounders!

If you do get an XJ and can't find a doggie gate/divider, I can make you one. I did a mock up one (I'll post pics if interested) and wouldn't take long to build another.

One thing I will say is that getting dogs in and outta the back is easy, but I am not a real fan of in and out of the rear doors. I have a begal/shepard mix at 40lbs. and 3" lift so I have to pick up the 14 year old dog.

she is 10 yrs old. So I pick her and the other smaller dog up to put them in and out. she is 105 lbs and not fat but still easy enough to pick up for me. Her dad was a big police dog and was a monster. Just want to make her comfortable. I might take you up on the gate. I am a fan of homeade items. I plan on making/welding the roof rack too. Anyone know of any deals on XJs around charlotte? Anyone got pics of their dogs in the back with the seats up? thanks again everyone.
