questions about lockers

Default questions about lockers

in the near future im looking to put front lockers in my jeep. i wanna know what the front axles spline is on a stock xj year 2000. and do i need two lockers... one for each wheel or just one that combines all the gears

You'd only need a single locker for the front and then another for the rear. Why do you need to know the spline count?

Also, if you have a 2000, you should look into swapping your front axel to one that isn't low pinion.

alrighty thanks man... cause on quadratec.com to order them you need to know the spline or the gears.
yea maybe ill get new axles but im still in high school and only workin weekends so budgets a lil tight lol

You can pick up a JY axel for less than $200. If you have an auto there's about an 85% chance you have 3.55 gears, otherwise you have 3.73 gears. You can tell by checking the differential tag if its there

just know with a locker up front, its super sketch to drive in 4 hi on the road.....tries to pull all over the road and doesnt want to turn(cant really go over 25 mph...safely).....ask me how i know

what lockers are you looking at getting? and your d30 is 27 spline....most likely the 3.55 gears if its an auto.

Your not supposed to use 4hi on roads lol, unless you have a 242

thats not true, if the roads are snowy or icy its completely acceptable to use 4hi on the streets. even in high water situations using 4wd would be acceptable
