Hi all, first post here.

Since I bought my 240SX in March and been testing it out, it has dawned on me to get a SUV/truck for the winter as it is terrible in the rain as it is. Been researching for months and months, and the most probable contender is a XJ Jeep Cherokee. I am on a tight budget, 2k would be the max, 1000-1500 would be the range I would be willing to pay. I was wondering, any known issues with the year range (1993-1999) for the Jeep Cherokee? What would be the most obvious things I look for when buying it? Parts that should be replaced when you first buy?

Watch foe rust that's one of the biggest things with Cherokees.

 

Check all the oil levels including the transfer case.

 

Thanks for the replies, so no known issues with like oil leaks, poor axles, anything of that nature?

 

You can expect a $1500 XJ to leak everything like a sieve, and you'll proably have to remember to keep your feet on the 2X4, yaba da do like the Fred Flintstone mobile.
