Default question from a new xj owner

I know aerodynamics are poor at best on the xj, but it feels like my Jeep is slowing too quickly when I let off the gas. I checked the transmission fluid but have yet to check my transfer case or difs. Anyone have any thoughts?

If it is due to excessive resistance in the diffs, you would see it in your MPG as well (but by all means check anyway to make sure levels are good). If the MPG's are not particularly bad (well under 10), I would compare it to another XJ if at all possible. Have you noticed if the RMP's are higher than they should be when it is slowing down too fast? If it is not shifting into the correct gears and you are at like 2500RPM at 50 MPH off the gas, that would do it.

Sounds like a classic XJ mystery case that needs investigating. Let us know if you find out whats up, if anything. While the aerodynamics are famously poor, I have never noticed them slowing down excessively faster than any other vehicle I drive.
