Pulling Tranny, TCase, Axle,
Thursday, Im planned to go pull A Transmission, Transfer case, Front axle, And drive shafts. I was wondering if anyone can give me a heads up To anything i might encounter, If im correct, Ill just need to take the crossmember off, Than disconnect all the wires, Than unbolt 4 or 5 bolts From the bell housing. Now is there any bolts holding the Tcase to the body? Also will my 2wd axle control arms work for This 4wd axle? I ask because i may just cut the control arms in half to save time. And anything else i should grab that ill need for the swap?

there are 4 bolts on that connect the flexplate to the torque converter that have to be taken off, you have to undo all the shift linkages for the Tcase and Tranny

you can get to them by using bout 3 1/2 ft worth of extensions on a ratchet and i think if you use a 12point 8mm socket you can get them off, and if you can get a drill in there, let me know how much sheet metal you cut away

Since he's just scrapping, the whole thing, could I disconnect everything from the body that holds the tranny and tcase to the body and disconnect everthing from the engine if the axle was out of the way, could I then cut the motor mounts and let the whole drive train fall and than just unbolt the tranny?

What Transmission? I literately just finished pulling mine out and putting it all back in. AX-15 manual 5speed w/ NP231. Aside from cooler lines vs. slave cylinder, basically the same.
Let me know if you have any questions.

Should be a aw4. I'm probably just gonna pull out the axle and the crossmember and cut the motor mounts and push the jeep off the drive train and take it apart than

Video tape please!!
From memory -
Remove 8mm bolts holding front/rear u-joint straps on, use screw driver to pry joints out of yokes.
Slip rear driveshaft off.
Undo 8mm bolts at front yoke on t-case.
Put Floor jack under cross member. Rasie and push against.
Undo 3 18mm bolts and 1 stud for cross-member. (at frame rails)
Undo 4 16mm bolts at transmission/crossmember.
Disregard cross member.
Unbolt both oxygen sensors (7/8" wrench IIRC)
Unbolt exhaust, move out of the way.
Lower trans slightly.
Remove 11mm bolts holding CPS at top of bell housing.
Remove Starter and bolts.
Remove t-case vacumm line. Remove any wiring, (2 pigtails on transmission, one on transfer case)
Remove transmission cooler lines (automatic) or slave cylinder (manual)
Use a large flathead, or pry bar, and "pop" the transfer case linkage apart. Its strong metal, it won't break. Pry away.
Remove 4 12mm bolts holding stickshift on, as far as auto, I am unsure.
Angle transmission down more. Watch on top for any "surprises".
Place some floor jacks under trans/t-case assembly. Move floorjack or use a transmission jack. Place under where transmission bolted to crossmember. MAKE SURE to secure the transmission to whatever your using, via ratchet strap or whatnot.
Start unbolting bellhousing from motor. Angle down more. Shake transmission side to slide slightly to rock it off crank output shaft.
Keep en eye on your fans against your radiator, as the whole motor has pivoted.
Keep convincing it off. Don't forget about 2 hidden bolts on engine side that bolt backwards into transmission. (thanks Dan)
Pop should go the transmission.
