Bought a '96 two-door, five-speed yesterday
I have a question for you fellas, though. It's already mildly lifted (between 2 and 3 inches), and I want to replace the rear shocks. I don't know which ones to put in/ which will work. Sorry, I'm a noob. I'm much more familiar with my '08 Jetta (this is only my second day as a Jeep owner).

Based on countless threads on many boards, the way to go are the bilsteins 5100. There is a vendor on this board from what I read that offers good deals. Go to vendor page and research.
Bilsteins are the best shocks... but the Bugatti Veyron is the fastest car... doesn't mean theres anything wrong with a Corvette.
It really depends on how well you want your jeep to ride... personally its a Jeep so I dont spend 600$ on shocks, my 120$ for 4 shocks is plenty. thanks.

Buy a Camry then... lol
The best upgrade you can ever buy for your jeep is a second vehicle.
Results? Dont have to worry about breaking it, better mileage, better ride, you can hear yourself think, etc.

You cant afford a Camry but CAN afford a gas guzzling Jeep and 900$ worth of shocks? Hows that make sense?
Camry = 32mpg
150 miles a day as you stated is 4.6g per day. So at 4$/g thats $18.40 a day in gas.
Week = 5 days = 92
Month = 4 weeks = 368
Jeep = 16mpg
150 miles a day is 9.37g per day so 4$ x 9.37g = $37.50 a day
Week = 5 days = $187.5
Month = 4 weeks = $750
Driving the Camry instead of the Jeep nets you a savings of $382/mo...
By my calculations the second vehicle pays for itself after 3 months...... Who the hell drives a JEEP 150 miles a day. lol crazy people thats who.
FYI I just gassed up at 5.20/gallon... Now ask why I dont DD a jeep... lol

Not saying I like driving a Camry around, but I like 300$ a month in my pocket a hell of a lot more than I like driving around a Jeep.

Theres the link to my cost analysis for that upgrade.
Moral of the story, Buy the decent shocks, dont buy Bilsteins there a waste of money unless you're a prerunner.

Wow thanks for all the support everybody. I think I'll end up buying a full lift, so the shocks can wait. I just ordered some soft 8s so I'm currently supremely stoked for those to come in!!!!
