Default Proper steering setup

Can someone post up a picture of how your drag link and track bar look when they are paralleled correctly? Debating if I need to get a lower dropped pitman arm.

Also, does anyone know if the Durango steering box upgrade drops the pitman arm down anymore than a stock box does?

Thanks

I have no idea bout the durango boxes and arms but i have read that it should be about the same angle as the track bar but i never really understood how that affects anything?? If it drives fine then i wouldnt worry bout it.

It doesn't that's why I'm trying to get it squared away. Since my track bar has a bend in it, are you supposed to parallel the two from bolt to bolt or according to the bend?

I don't want to outstep my knowledge to far here.. but making the track bar parallel to the drag link is done in an attempt to eliminate bump steer
and as far as I know they cant be set parallel on a D30 without fabrication or a knuckle swap
it's probably something you'll just have to live with. and probably will rarely notice it anyway

I'm noticing it more than ever with my power steering issue goin on right now. I have some play in the steering attachment side of my stock power steering box. Just wanted to take care of it all at once.

The axle "swings" upon suspension travel . The steering knuckles must also "swing" at about the same rate as the axle to avoid bumpsteer. The trackbar controls the swing of the axle, and drag link controls the swing of the steering knuckles. If they arent parralel, when hitting a dip or bump in the road, or even on the trail, either your tires will jolt in one direction, or steering wheel will jerk to one direction.(i have never had a rig with terrible bumpsteer, so i couldnt tell ya which is effected when exactly, might also be dependent on speed and other factors)

I don't think it looks too bad. I just think there is something wrong with my steering box. The inch of play I have is really bothersome.

Those look pretty parallel. It's supposed to be parallel from bolt to bolt.

are you sure the play is coming from the box? you could be getting tie rod roll with that steering.

I'm getting a roll with the drag link meeting the tre but will be putting a poly bushing on it soon to stop it. The roll only affects me when I make a hard left.

The power steering box has play in it. I can have someone turn the wheel very slightly from side to side and it while the pitman arm isn't moving my steering column goin into the box is.

How does it adjust?

Edit: just did a search and found a write up on JeepForum.com. I'll be giving this a shot either tomorrow or Tuesday.

Thanks everyone for the info and suggestions.
