This thread is for some questions I have before lifting because everything I have looked up is usually specific to that persons thread. Here's my specs and some questions.
I should finally be buying my lift and tires within a month...hopefully lol. So to start I have a 1991 xj laredo. 4x4 of course and an AW4auto tranny sadly. I do have a Chrysler 8.25 in the rear with 3.55 stock gearing.
After tons of homework, I have decided on the 4.5inch zone full leaf lift. And I also decided on BFG km2's 33x10.5 I am thinking 10.5's because it is a daily driver and a weekend warrior so the weight difference between 10.5 and 12.5 will be significant.
My biggest question is about re-gearing my axles. I know I want to re-gear, just I don't know if I will need 4.10's or 4.56's. As a daily driver I'm not sure if I would need 4.56's. And I know for as long as it's a daily driver (im in college) I won't be getting bigger tires than 33's.
I will probably getting a hack n tap sye shortly after I lift it. The kit does come with a t-case drop that I may use for a quick fix.
I think that's it for now, I'm also open for suggestions. Thanks in advance guys.

Sounds like you got it down.
Dont know if the kit comes with them but youll want new brake lines.
Id go 4.56s but with those skinny tires the 410s would probably be just fine for ya.

The Zone kit has drop brackets for all the brake lines. I got the exact same kit a few months ago. I had new braided front hoses and a YJ rear hose. I didn't need the brackets. Or the t-case drop because it's got a SYE kit in it already. It rides firm but not rough. Mine already has the factory 4:10's in it and it does good, but no OD limits highway driving.

Is this true for the front as well? I've been looking for a cheaper alternative for longer front lines. I'm doing the Dakota rear line (new) for the back...how much lift is that good for? Is the YJ rear line longer? Any particular years YJs?
Thanks 88.

Why Regear? Not worth the $800 IMO, if I'm driving too slow those damn ricers can go Around
I run 33x12.5 on 3.55 you can tell a difference in power but its not bothersome

I'm gonna let you drive my jeep next time we're out. you will then proceed to retract this post
it is 100% worth it to regear. you can find cheaper ways to get it done if you're a smart cookie

find 2 matching axles or people trying to get rid of gears that they never ended up installing. search forums, craigslist. make lots of friends. one of them is bound to know how to help you install the gears yourself. or bite the bullet and order new axle parts, strip your stock axles and completely remove them from your jeep, call some shops and see what labor will cost for them to set up your gears. find deals. RWKHaus has a pretty sweet deal going on right now http://www.naxja.org/forum/showthread.php?t=1098367 theres lots of ways to get around high regear costs.

I'm not worried about going fast or anything, I'm lifting so I'm okay will going slow but main reason, is to not strain my tranny. Next, some of the terrian I will be on could use it. But I will for sure be on 33's with 3.55 till I get the money to regear.
