Portable Compressors - What's Good?
Did a search and didn't come up with much for portable compressors to pack when hitting the trails. I will not do an OBA since I live in southern AZ (it's still in the 100s). I know some of those cigarette lighter compressors will take 30 minutes per tire; not what I'm looking for. What do you carry for a compressor? Please add how long it takes to air up a tire.

I think he wants an OBA system but wants to keep his a/c.
Look into the stuff from Viair. I don't have any experience with them but some if the oba systems they have with electric compressors look pretty nice.

I hate dealing with compressors over heating. this is what i'm gonna get http://www.aircompressorsdirect.com/...sor/p5060.html
all other "portable" compressors I've tried take forever and overheat fast
if that doesn't work for you. I'd be using a CO2 tank. both great options. just gotta decide if you want to figure out how to set up a good compressor, or deal with refilling a CO2 tank every so often. I think I'll end up with a compressor

You absolutely can't go wrong with a VIAIR compressor. They are used a lot in the custom car/trucks for air suspension. AIR ZENITH is another company that produce awesome comps and I believe they have option for little fans to draw heat off of the compressor head.

Yes, you are correct; definitely want to keep AC. For the C02 systems, how long do they last and what's it cost to fill?

I have a 30lb tank, costs me about 45 to fill. Lasts the wheeling season plus a little more. I can fill 4 35s from 10psi to 30 in the time it takes someone with OBA to fill one tire.
Pockets empty That's just a compressor they all are sold like that,The pressure switch psi depends the tanks limit and they make them from 105psi to 200psi is why they don't give you one. They do sell kits that come with everything needed http://www.viaircorp.com/oba.html or call up http://www.avsontheweb.com/home.php ask for jason tell him what your doing he will put together a everything kit for you.
For space a co2 tank is hard to beat but your gonna pay for refills it adds up,On board air with a compressor has a little up keep like draining the tank every month and emptying out the water traps. And if you live where it gets below freezing its not a bad idea to put a cap full of air line anti freeze in the water traps maybe tank too.

I have an electric pump setup with a 5 gallon tank made by "Quick Air", which is no longer in business. It serves it's purpose, but takes a little while to air my 33x12.50 15's back up. Maybe 3 or 4 minutes each. I want to add an auxiliary tank so it goes a little further.

that's what I will be going with when I get OBA. They will probably be mounted under the rear seat and have a line ran up so that the fitting is easily accessible
