Pics or thoughts on a gun rack in the XJ?
I want to put some kind of gun rack in my XJ to hold my AR-15 and maybe one other long gun, have any of you made one or found one to work?
Idea's?
I was thinking something running back to front along the rear windows behind my tint?
I have almost 0 fab skills, that's why Im looking for ideas or in place things already done.

i just keep whatever im carrying in a gun case on the back seat, windows are tinted enough that people cant see in and i never leave it unattended when theres a gun in there anyways. Got to find out what your laws are, in PA the mags and ammo must all be stored seperately from the gun

I usually transport my rifles/pistols in their cases under a blanket on the floor of the cargo area. I generally figure it best if nobody knows about 'em!
I have pondered making a 1/4" plywood container the size of the cargo area, like a raised floor with hinges on the top that would be like a long, flat box. That way I could take it out to make more space, or leave it in for storage. I even considered making it more permanent and making it a drawer with partitions to separate my recovery gear from my shooting iron instead of a hinged-lid box. I've seen others do a raised floor with a drawer underneath, and there are pics on here somewhere if you search around a bit.
I also considered mounting a scabbard of sorts to the inside of the lift-gate panel, maybe even recessing it for additional concealment. There are a lot of bears where I camp and it would be nice to have some 12ga magnum slugs quickly available. I've since decided I need a newer XJ (with actual floor metal instead of just carpet) and am waiting to get that before I make the weapons mounts & storage for the back...
Whatever you do, x2 on know the local regulations! U don't want the law taking your guns!

Im in Utah and have my CC permit as well, the laws here are very relaxed on guns, especially rifles. I just want to save cargo space when camping, and it would be behind very dark tint anyway....I don't leave my guns in sight or unnattended.
