I still have not bout a motor.
But I looks like I will in fact be going with a stock motor for now.
The WRX sucked up a lot of my cash over the last few months. (Turbo upgrade)
And the wife now wants to use the Jeep as a daily for a bit. So its getting a used 4.0l For now, and might get an LS swap or something light that next year.

Thanks man! It dose need some work thou. I found that the floor has some rust under the front seats that I will need to fix. But other then that it seams to be a clean straight truck.

I have decided that I will be staying with the stock 6 cylinder motor, even thou I would love to do a V8 swap. I just don't have the cash or the time right now.

So I am going to build a 4.6L stroker motor for it. And bump the compression a little bit to.

But I need a new block and head and am not sure where in south east Michigan to get them.

Also not sure what blocks will work for me. I know there are different blocks but not sure what changed on them? Not sure where a good place to order the new parts from is ether. Also don't know what the stock compression ratio is.

Still researching.

I will be getting started on the Jeep in about a month or so. I'm working the WRX right now doing a turbo upgrade. But as soon as I get the car back from being tuned I am going to get started on the Jeep. Probably end of next month. Right now the WRX has sucked up all my free cash, but soon it will be the Jeeps turn at the wallet! LOL.

I would like to have it on the road 4-6 weeks after that.

Cant wait to take it off road! I have never owned a Jeep before and I think this is going to be a vary fun toy!

Ill be starting a build thread on the motor as soon as I can. I need to do a lot more research before I start ordering parts still.

If you guys have any good links for me to get started that would be great! I'm new to Jeeps so I don't know a lot about them yet. But I'm not new to cars or moding as you can see from the WRX.

Thanks for the help guys!

Ok So after a lot of reading it looks like I do in fact need a certain block for it to bolt right in.

From what I have found I need the block from a 99-01 XJ or 99 TJ Casting #53010449AA

So that should be fun to try to find.

Also found that I will need ether a new head from some place or the "Tupy" (0331) head from an 02-06 4.0.

That should not be to hard to find. I hope.

Sadly it looks as though I will be selling the Jeep rather then fixing her.
I just don't have the time to work on it right now.
I will be posting a for sale add soon.
