well its suppost to be nice out tomorrow so i think im gonna remove the side trim and paint my rockers. i picked up 2 cans of spray on bedliner, along with a couple different grit sandpaper, basically for anyone who has done this, how did u prep the surface? i was thinking of basically sanding down the clear coat and then just spraying a couple coats on. but i want it to turn out good and not chip, so should i sand it down to bare metal and prime it then spray it? or should i just sand off the clear coat prime it then paint, or go with how i originally was gonna do it and just sand off the clear and just spray a few coats of bed liner on it

For bedliner, you could use an angle grinder with a wire cup brush to get to bare metal, then prime and bedline. That would be plenty of insurance that it won't chip off.

I just did mime so I can't speak to longevity, bit I used one of the drill attachments that removes rust and paint and took off the clearcoat then sanded with a sanding block, primered, and then sprayed. It went on really well. I did a couple spots in the jams without sanding well and primer and it went on pretty good too. It's really easy to do. Good luck!
I sanded all the clear coat off and scuffed the paint. I bedlined my whole jeep last spring. It hasn't chipped flaked or anything it's still on there as strong as when I first put it on. What kind of bedliner did you get that matters too.
