I wasted my time painting mine black when I changed the fluid. I just didn't want it to start looking rusty. I wanted to get the crinkle textured paint, but didn't want anyone thinking I was posing. Definately not trying to impress, But I do think it would look better.
my truck has a little bit of bling. steering, u bolt plates, and diff covers.
matches the body color. everything else is unpainted or semi-gloss black.

all my xjs i have owned were exclusively black under there. it all looks like crap after a year of wheeling anyway.

i did the same thing, with mine, everything is flat black or body color
I did blue torch fab DIY diff covers so i needed to paint them something, I went with white (body color) they do get banged up, but they are always muddy dirty anyways so its hard to tell. not too flashy IMO, Not like yellow or orange or red

I appologize if I did this wrong, new to actually posting here and not just getting info lol. Thanks to this thread, here's what I did today after reading where someone said they had put a smiley face on the diff. I googled smiley faces and found something kinda goofy and piratey looking. Why you may ask? Because I named my jeep "Steve", after Steve the Pirate from Dodgeball
Also, yes I know it's stock but once I had the idea from this thread... It was happening no matter what lol.
