painting
Hey I want to paint the front gille and the thing thats around the headlights on my silver jeep xj. Have any suggestions on what to do? I want to paint it flat black. What do i need to buy to do this, just spray paint and a clear coat can?

Well, first of all as I probably know you are aware, is to sand it. Rinse it off, let it dry, then sand with a finer grit paper and rinse again... Prime it, or get a rattle can of flat black with the primer already mixed in it. Then clear coat...good idea. And do it in layers. AND TAKE YOUR TIME. Should look great, cant wait to see the finished product
I like the idea of flat black as well. I did my XJ in flat black too. But I used regular flat black for 2 coats, then a textured flat black for the final layer..still have to do the clear coat . Here's what mine looks like.

If you paint it with clear after you will add some shine. If you want it flat just get an enamel spray that is flat black. The enamel one is better than just flat black paint or black primer.

Why dont you go with Satin or Gloss?
I did mine in Satin and it looks better than new. Maroon scotch bright, Rubbing alcohol and GOOD Satin paint. Done.
