Painted half the xj today....
Got the lift pretty much finished on the '89 build (waiting on my leafs) So I started painting Tuesday. Sanded it all down and sprayed it with bedliner. Then sanded that to remove most of the texture and top coated with satin rattlecan....
A few pics....
Started off like this.
Then with just liner.
And with one side topcoated
Should have the leafs in tomorrow so I can finish the lift, get the sliders on, paint the rest of the xj, Wire up all the lights, install recovery points, etc.... Still lots to do
The rack will stay black and the sliders will be black so I'm thinking of painting the wheels black??? What do you guys think??

i personally think the outer part of the rim green, inside part tan. it would match perfectly and look pretty bad***

For a spray bomb paint job that thing came out awesome!!
Leave the wheels the way they are. Don't cheese it up by painting the wheels. It'll look like a matchbox car if you do that. It's nice with those wheels because they are not original XJ wheels and not soft 8's which you get major points in my book for being a little different. Nice job man!

That's possible. I happen to have a full set of chrome ones. But then I'd have to ditch the black window trim so I'd be chrome too... Hmmm I've got that already as well... IDK, we'll see how it all looks when the rack and everything else is back on first

When I did my '93 I think I used a total of 5 cans bed liner, 7 cans Green (top color), and 4 cans black (trim color)
It's held up extremely well! It travels a lot of wood trails around the farm and is constantly raked by branches and she still looks great

Both jeeps looking good in here! Makes me kinda wish I hadn't just signed a lease for a city apartment; I'm going to have to pay someone else to do it so I don't **** off my neighbors (also because I don't have the space!)

Dude, looks badass. I'm in the process of fixing up my XJ now. Still have a lot of sanding and priming left to do though (pictures are in my album). I'm trying to get an idea of how much the final coat of paint is going to run me though. Roughly 4 cans per side?
