Default Overheating at idle?

I I have a 98 Cherokee and it normally drives around at 210 or 1 line below it prolly like 190ish but when I sit at idle it tries to get hot. I can drive at 65 with no electric fan on but at idle I have to turn my e. fan on just to keep it from going too high ( my e. fan is wired so I can turn it on and off with a switch) and idk y. I have a tranny cooler radiator infront of my regular radiator. Or could it be my thermostat getting stuck or my fan clutch. I also want to make my overflow do the hose goes into the water instead of the pressurized cap like how it is now. Any suggestions

You have a 98 with the old style cooling system?

Any who it sounds like fan clutch. It should stop spinning when you shut off your jeep when its nice and warmed up

I had the exact same thing. Ended up being a clogged cooling system. Replaced everything except the heater core. Mistake, should have replace the core also.

I would pull the heater lines off. Take a hose and blow water through it backwards. Do the same yo the radiator. If ugly stuff comes out replace everything.

I spent days trying to flush it all out. Not worth it.

I don't think so? The guy before me wired it so you can turn it on at will

I have a switch too and mine overheats at idle as well like when im at the drive thru i turn on the fan but when I take off the temp goes back to normal. My problem is that it gets hot at slow speeds ie when im wheeling.

Yup exactly. I'm fine as long as I'm up and moving

Have you tried any kind of water wetter or running coolant other than 50/50 with water. I run Hyper cool water wetter with about 15% coolant in the summer and my jeep runs cool all day long, 105 + weather with the a/c on. It's a shame these cooling systems are so under designed. When the cooling system gets all old and corroded the benefit from adding a surface tension modifier like water wetter (Lucas) or hyper cool is drastic.
