I have a 1989 xj limited and my dad just got a new 2011 limited Cherokee. And the amount of stuff on that thing. But I'd pick my xj anyway, plain and simple.

Its kinda ugly looking. Looks like a ford explorer now. Only new Jeep I like is the JK Rubi 2 or 4 door. And If I was getting another id buy a cj7 or a yj. (thats my new project)

I don't even consider these new "hemi" engines anywhere close to the same league as the original HEMI's, such as the 426. My sister had one in her new RAM last time they came to visit, I drove it to the store and it was just the biggest dog I've ever driven. I've felt more umph from an astrovan with a vortec V6.

I wouldn't take one, I'll take my solid axle over IFS any day. I agree about the new hemi's, had one in a 2005 2wd durango, and it was a dog, I got smoked by a 2001 durango with a 4.7. Not worth it for the hemi.

WK2 Grand Cherokee is NOT a Cherokee.. Only Cherokee's were XJ's.. ZJ, WJ, WK, and WK2 are GRAND Cherokee's.. and with that said the WK and WK2 are a long long way from what Jeep once designed with the ZJ and even WJ

The WK2 is IRS and IFS.. Non impressive to say the least although Jeep wanted something more road friendly with there grand taking away from offroad capability and that is what we now got with the WK2 (The WK before that, same deal but had ifs and sra). It is very very sad that the WK2 GC's are the best suv in there class although guess we shouldn't expect any less from Jeep. Even going backwards in there idea of function first they still make sure what they are doing is the best on the market in a vehlicles class.

Even continuing to make a well built JK/JKU which are in a Class of there own as no one makes anything even close to compairable

This is exactly what I was getting at, that I'd pick my plain and simple solid axle I6 xj over that any day.
