oil pressure above normal
So lately I have noticed my oil pressure is above normal about 40 psi at idol, and will go to 60 whne on the freeway. It had been several years since I changed the sending unit so today I put in a new one and the pressure is the same. I normally use 10-40 weight oil. I recentally had to replace the rear main seal (without this fourm that would not have been possible thanks) and now I'm wondering if the high pressure may have played a role in the bolwn RMS. My PCV valve line (nearest to the fire wall) was completey broken at the rubber 90 degree connector and I have put a jerryrigged part on it (auto store did not have the correct part) for the time being. A guy I spoke with said the PCV valve is likely responsible for oil overpressure problem, although putting this part on the PCV valve did nothing to changes the pressure. Also both PCV valves (the ones on either side of the oil fill cap) seem to no longer be air tight aginst the valve cover. Not sure if this is a big issue. I tried to removed the one nearest the firewall and it did not want to come out, not sure on which way it needs to be pointed so it can slide out.

my 00 runs between 40-60 psi all day long.... If I remember factory actually calls for it to be around there. When i am cruising the freeway it's at 60.

Ive always heard higher oil pressure was fine, its low oil pressure thats bad. that means not everything is getting lobbed. I actually have a higher performance oil pump in my wrangler to keep the pressure higher, the previous owner thought it was lower than he liked and swapped it out.

i just put a new oil pump on mine 2 weeks ago and my press. is at 40 psi idle and 60 driving , so that sounds right but if it used to be low and now its all of the sudden high , try changin your oil filter to a different brand

so 25-30psi at idle and 35-40 while driving isnt good?
when it gets about time to do a oil change it likes to dip to 10 at idle, but doesnt after i change the oil...

My pressure is at 10 on a hot idle, 40 on a cold idle. It only goes above 40 if its cold and I'm at rpms over 2,000. Haven't seen any ill effects
