Default Oil...

What oil do you use in your XJ and what oil do you hate?

Also, The main reason behind this is I want to ask does anyone use Next Gen from valvoline. I wanna put a poll on here for people to vote for it or against it.

I use Mobil 1. Just because I use it in all of my other cars, seems to do very well and not terribly expensive.

If you are lazy and don't change your oil regularly then buy quality synthetic oil.

I change mine every 4000 miles. I run the cheapest oils out there.

rotella T6, 5w-40 full syn. if youre 4.0 is tired, the shell 15-40 is great. if its running fine, any good 10w-30 works fine.

So far, I generally have chosen between either the Rotella T5 in 10W-30 or, currently, Quaker State Defy 10W-40, depending on which was available. Don't know enough about the Valvoline to either like or dislike it.

I didn't vote cause I know nothing of that oil. I usually just run the less expensive Super Tech stuff from Wally World and here's why... A long, long time ago, in a galaxy far, far away, or at least back when I was young and driving a truck, I used to go down to Shreveport every couple of months and pick up a truck load of cases of oil. The first time I ever picked up at this location, I backed up to the dock and I saw pallets of MANY brands of oil right next to each other. They were all coming from the same factory (refinery). Sure, I'm sure that there are little differences in the actual oil itself, but it was all made at the same place. The cheap stuff is made just like, and by the same people, in the same place, as the expensive stuff.
