Whatever you end up using, don't use a Fram filter.

AMSOIL. Oil is a crucial part of a engine, i don't understand why people buy less inferior products.

Because they don't make "performance" oils for a tractor!

because the cheap stuff does the job good enough.

just change the oil on time and it'll be fine, no fancy synthetic or amsoil needed.

I'm afraid 15w40 would be too thick for me in winter. Although would be nice because I use rotella in my diesel also

Basically this is all that matters lol.. if you want to be nice to your engine run the lowest first number you can (0Wxx being the best)

Highly recommend reading this: http://www.supramania.com/aehaas/101.html

Well T3 15W40 would be a lot better than filling your 4.0 with 6 quarts of Brawndo

Rotella T6 is 5W40. The T5 synthetic blend is available in 0W30 and 0W40 as well, but it has fewer certifications. However, I haven't done the research to see if Shell just hasn't bothered getting it certified (for example one of the T6 certs related to motorcycles with wet clutches) or if there's a significant difference.

Good info. Fwiw I ran the rotella blue bottle in my wet clutch dual sport for as long as I owned it. Performed flawlessly and allowed me to extend my change interval from 1500 miles to 2500 miles

I tried the max life 10w30 and while it did increase my oil pressure readings, I didn't see any other benefit from it. I ran the Shell Rotella T full synthetic 5w40 in my 25 year old motorcycle (wet clutch) and it did really well. I may try the 10w30 version in my XJ next oil change and see how it does.

I have been running 0w30 since I got the jeep.

i just run the rotella 15w40 because it is super cheap. I abuse my motors more than most and never had an issue related to lack of lubrication.

i have come to the conclusion that as long as it says "motor oil" on the bottle, you are in pretty good shape with a stock 4.0.

I admit there are better filters out there than fram, worse3 too, although I'v used a lot of frams over the years. Main thing is change your filter and oil often, about every 5000 miles.
Buy a mopar filter for peace of mind and you'll sleep well at night. For me current is QState 10W30 because it holds pressure steadiest thru the life of the oil. Peep is rollin 589000+km.
