oh, deer.
I was coming home from work at 8:30ish Wednesday and hit an 8-point buck doing 50.
Insurance totalled it for $3500 (a grand more than I paid for it) and I'm buying her back for $1000 (As of right now, I haven't really sat down to talk to them yet, that's just their initial offer). I'm going to angle for a few more $ since the adjuster dented the **** out of the hood and tore off a fender flare and a chunk of the header panel trying to get the hood open and then told my mom he didn't open the hood .
What headlights are you guys running and how do you like them? I've been looking at the Rampage H4 kit but it seems kind of cheap.
Does anybody have any suggestions for the fog lights? I'm looking at a set of Hella's out of the Quadratec Catalog (They weren't damaged, but I'm not going to do what professionals in training will do for free!)
It looks like a lot of the rest is coming from RockAuto.
Thanks for the advice!

I fail to see how that is totaled, so you should definitely buy it back.
New header panel with lights, along with a condenser and maybe a radiator and you are good.
I have the Rampage H4 kit with an upgraded wiring harness and I love it. The headlights are clear and look sexy:

I have autopal head lights and they work great... http://www.ebay.com/itm/85-91-JEEP-G...item4ce8f6e337
you will not need fog lights with the upgraded headlights
I would also upgrade your side markers to clear ones if you like the look..

I would also get some front tow hooks

just some suggestions to add after you fix everything ...

UM..It may look like its okay, have you checked the unibody or anything else like? You may think the damage is only up front in the hood area but that's not true, the impact (energy) travels, through the whole truck.
Take the 3500 go buy a pretty one that didnt get 'jail-raped' by a deer.
Glad to hear youre okay though!!

Glad you're okay. I saw a 64 Chevy hit a horse once. The car slide for over 50ft and the horse went thought the windshield Messed up the people inside pretty bad. Behind them when it happened.

Yeah, it was the most satisfying field dress I have ever done. "You wreck my Jeep, I cut your ***** off. Now we're equal."
Thanks to everyone for the advice. It's looking like we are going to keep it, Considering it took me 2 years to find this one, and every one I looked at before it had a dirtier carfax than this. It won't get a Salvage title if I do buy it back. If it doesn't work out, I will sell or salvage this one for the buy back cost and still have roughly $1000 left over from repairs, which will be plenty to go get another if I chip in some savings. All in all I will have quite a bit of money to work with so she should come back even more BA than before

Well glad your ok. The jeep looks repairable. I've actually have hit 2 deers with my jeep on the backroad home. Both times I had my metal bumper so there was no damage done to the jeep itself just some paint here and there. Good luck with your repairs.

definitely buy it back junk yard parts for Cherokees are cheap and plentiful here in Missouri use the extra cash to build a beefy bumper as someone who has hit better than a dozen deer trust me awesome investment now when i hit one there's nothing but chunks to eat.
