plenty tough of an axle to run up to a 35 inch tire.

All 3 of which are very different types of wheeling, with setups in suspension and steering varying widely.

Sounds like you want a good all around rig...you're best off using the axles you have, gearing to your desired tire size, and adding lockers at the same time.

A properly built rig on 4.5" long arms and 33's will get you over almost anything.

This. Hell, the XJ I had with 33's and 3.5" short arms would go places YJs struggled. Thing was just set up RIGHT. The guy I sold it to is constantly sending me pics, videos, and messages of how awesome it is. He's in constant disbelieve in what it will go through. He USED TO BE a K5 guy. Now he's in love with that damn Jeep

That Jeep has a High pinion D30 up front, 29 spline c8.25 in the rear with factory LSD, and the suspension was flexy enough to keep all four wheels on the ground through almost anything so it practically never lost traction.

Thanks for the advice, I was wanting that lift but I was thinking it might be over kill. And are you sure about the axels, i could get a Dana 44 put on the back to make it just a bit tougher right?

imo it's not worth the swap from a 8.25 based off what you will be doing

Depends on what size tires you are running, your 2001 has a low pinion Dana 30 which isn't as strong as a high pinion Dana 30 that was used in 99 and older Cherokees, if you are going to run 33s or smaller then I would keep what you have now, for 35s I would swap in a high pinion Dana 30. If you want larger than 35s then a Rubicon Dana 44 or a highly modified high pinion Dana 30.
