When your 10 year old stock XJ 4x4 drives right through the snow and ice that put all the big 1500 and 2500 series 4x4 trucks that used to laugh at you on the side of the road. I usually wave at them as I pass.

When you can hit a patch of black ice and hit the ditch doing 70mph during a blizzard and sink it in a 5 foot deep drift...and just shove it in 4 low and get back on the road, no problem.

You know you drive an XJ when you realize you can't afford to lift it, and am okay 'cause you know it will still keep up with your buddies' lifted rigs on the trails.

When you go down a REALLY steep incline and lose all your coolant. Then you start overheating on the way home because you never noticed (until now) all the coolant spilled out... and that's when you remember the one thing you forgot to bring- extra coolant. Happened last time I went out to Hidden Falls, I had all my other fluids, just forgot coolant!
And it was 100 out that day, really fun blasting the heating for 20 minutes trying to find an auto parts store or even a gas station!

When you're cruising down a 2 lane back road with 4' deep drop off on either side, and as your chuggin along one night, the car infront of you bows up and stops for a rabbit. And instead of locking up your drums and eating japanese plastics, you swirve off the road. Then proceed to drive back up onto the road, in stride, and resume your same spot in traffic? Yeaa you drive an XJ.
