Go to jeep.com and go to the bottom of the page. There is a link that says contact us. In that link there is a place you can request a build sheet. All you do is enter your vin and email address. They will email you the entire detailed build sheet for your jeep.

You have a 5spd? Then you should have 3.08 gears. Manual tran's xj's came with 3.08 gears while the auto's came with either 3.55 or 3.73 for the tow package.

5speed non tow package are 3.07
5speed with tow package are 3.55

Pretty sure with auto It's 3.55 no matter the package options, someone correct me If I'm wrong.

found this

3.07 - used with 4.0L engine / manual transmission
3.31 - only available on older (pre87?) 2 door XJs with "Fuel Economy" package
3.55 - used with 4.0L engine / automatic transmission
3.73 - found in some XJs with the towing package
4.10 - used with 2.5L engine usually, and older XJs with the "Off-Highway Vehicle" package.
