New to jeeps
Just going to make it nice running great and just drive it as is and if another jeep comes up I will jump on it since this one needs a lot for a motor swap still going to gear it and lift plus tires and just have fun with the little 4 banger

Carefully remove the rear tail-light housings and check the bulb-sockets. Guarantee the bulbs are rusted in the sockets making them short out. On my 92, I absolutely could NOT find new sockets anywhere. Ended up at the pick-n-pull and cut the rear harness and sockets out and soldering/shrink tube them in.
Water/mud/snow was getting thrown at the lights from the rear wheels due to the wheel wells rotting out. (fixed).
Vacuum leaks will be normal for your older XJ. All of the rotting lines can be replaced in an afternoon with some fresh lines from a parts place. Check your carb mounting nuts also. Mine on my 84 would come loose once in a while causing a vac-leak.
