Hi all, I'm new here and looking to acquire a Jeep Cherokee XJ. The one I have found appears to be one of the nicer, albeit high mileage, Jeeps I have come across in my search. And it's a rust-free 5-speed!
I think the price ($2100) seems fair, assuming it drives well, and nothing seems wrong, but I'd like some info from you experts.
It has high mileage, but don't they all? I'm curious if there is anything in particular I should look out for with a 1992? My GF had a 1998, so I'm somewhat familiar with the Jeep, but no expert. Any clear cut differences between the 1992 and 1998 outside of the interior and minor cosmetic differences?
Here is what the seller says...
"Up for sale is my 1992 Jeep cherokee laredo with 240K miles in good shape for its year has no rust originally from the south very clean body it has the bullet proof 4.0 inline 6 engine with the 5 speed manual transmission has a block heater and oil pan heater for cold winters truck runs like it should starts everytime i will throw in a set of aluminum 15" rims.. here is a list of some of the parts that have been replaced recently

Cons about the jeep is it could use a new set of leaf springs but that's about it "
Some pics...
Thanks

240k miles isn't bad, neither is the price. A plus is the fact that the seller seems to know the vehicle and has focused on maintenance rather than 4x4 ricer do-dads. The price isn't too bad, but depending on region they have been found in similar condition for cheaper, never hurts to offer less. FWIW, I got my '94 with 240 in similar shape for $1500. Speaking of region, you don't list yours and I can't make out the plate from my phone. Rust is a killer in some parts of the country, do a thourogh inspection if rust is an issue where you live.

Thanks for the thoughtful input. I'm located in Minnesota, so finding anything up here of that era with no rust is nearly impossible. I'm really interested in it because it's supposedly rust free and it's a 5-speed. Assume to be two rarities in the world of Jeeps.
If it's rust free in Minnesnowta then the price may indeed be very reasonable. Don't be afraid to crawl underneath and peel back carpet as part of the inspection. There are differences in the 92-98 but nothing like a total redesign.
