new
Well first off I would like to introduce myself I知 Chris and I知 new to the jeep and 4x4 world. I know a good bit but not enough and I was wanting to make some friends on here and that would not mind all my questions LOL. I have an 85 jeep Cherokee 4x4 with a 3 speed auto with a 2.8l. I have read and asked about a 3.4 swap b/c my 2.8 is running poor at best. I知 eager to learn more about what I can do to upgrade (Gods Jeep aka Mr. Leaky). There is so much I would like to do to this jeep and I do want to keep this jeep b/c it was given to me and my wife by her later step-mother who we were very close too.

2.8 is GM get a 3.4 from a Camaro or firebird and you can put the 2.8 intake and carb on it and drop it in
Fyi the 2.8's in the Jeeps were ones that didn't make gms cut and are somewat flawed
and yes the 350 swap is possible but you would need a dif trans or a maybe swap bell housing if possible on the trans

meh, the only logical option if you can't fit a 4.0 in it, is to start looking into an LS conversion. 5.3l

Welcome Chris,
Personally iv heard nothing but bad about the 2.8 litter, if it's that bad and youre hell bent on keeping the old jeep I'd start looking for a new motor
