The thing is with the lifted trucks, is the lift in the rear consists of 5 inch blocks, which equates to poop flex
Despite everything, it was still a fun tuck!

LOL...i was thinking the exact same thing..lol

i bought my 93 XJ with 204k miles about a couple months ago or so, and heres what ive had to do

ive changed both rear drive shaft u-joints
ive changed the wheel cylinder
ive changed both from axle joints
ive changed one of the wheel bearings up front
ive changed both rear shocks

and that is a very very small list for a 16 year old jeep with over 200,000 miles...you cant by a jeep that old and not expect to put some more money into on top of what you paid for the jeep itself

The newest Cherokee you can buy is gonna be nine years old, stuff tends to ware out. I got an 01 in november, when I was making the offer to the guy I already knew I was going to have to spend $1000 to $1500 in repairs and this was the nicest of about 12 XJ's I had looked at that month alone. To date I've spent about $1200, keep in mind that I work at a jeep dealer.. labor is free (done by me) and parts are mostly cheaper.

The thing I did was went over the jeep and made a list then took care of stuff a few weeks at a time. I still have a few things on my list to do but for the most part I have got everything taken care of.

Keep in mind I have two (2) Cherokees, so the list or lists pretty much never end I always have something to do, and what fun would it be if I didn't? your not the only one.

Try having 4 XJs, a truck, and a car to take care of.

Nope, I got three of them dirt cheap which is why they are money pits. The first one I ever purchased has been abandoned as a project and quickly became a parts supplier for another one. It is basically a stripped shell now and waiting for the crusher. So technically I only have three to maintain.

I'm not sure what your point is, or how my rig has entered into the conversation. But I paid what I paid for it, and I'm quite happy with it stock. Not everyone wants to hack up their XJs for off roading, but thanks for your concern.
