Default Need some advice, 99 Grand Cherokee

Hello everyone. I am new here but have been reading for some time.
Anyway, I just got into work and I have an opportunity to buy a
1999 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo
4.7 v-8
119XXX miles
Quadatrac (sp)
Very clean!!

my question is I have been looking to do a build up for sometime now. Not looking for an extreme off roader but some light off duty ,camping, running some household jobs and a somewhat bugout vehicle.

Wanted to know if this was a good base to start out with. I have owned several Wranglers, an older Jeep Cherokee classic (4cyl,5spd)

I had been looking for a Jeep Cherokee Classic to do this but in my area they go to fast or are too beat up (SF BAY AREA)

I work in an auto dealership and we took this on trade last night. I had a tech go over it and he was very impressed with its condition. Very minor problems on a quick look.

Carfax is clean, 1 Owner
Lots of service records
Low miles for the age
Appearance is about 8.5-9 I would say
Inside is a 9

Anyway I thought I would turn here to see if this was a good Cherokee to start with.

I am still going through the forums to read about the grand Cherokee but needed some quick advice from some of you to see if I should pull the trigger on this.

I can get it for a really good price.

If this in the wrong forum post I apologize. My first time posting here.

Just need some guidance on this

Thanks

Hi Bustedback,

Thanks, kinda what I thought just wanted to see if there was anything to steer clear of or anything I need to really look for. I'm trying to go through the forums here to get more info and if I pull the trigger I'll be around to ask about the mods for it

As long as you take care of it, it will take care of you. Extreme 4x4 on Spike did a WJ build last year, you can find the episodes online @powerblock.com. , or extreme4x4.com.

Like any used car be **** check every thing from the fluids to the spare tire.Drive it listen for odd sounds and see how the trans shifts.Test every switch in it see if everything works. If you can find things wrong you can talk the price down of if its something big walk away.
