Been thinking about the Cam lock idea.. The Feeder cam idea Ive done as well as parking it in my yard 5 feet from my front door with porch light on.. THEY STOLE MY BATTERY.. Then I added the cam and they didnt steel gas as long as it was out but soon as I forgot to set it out they hit it again.. Want to set it normally and leave it in the drive but damn cam wont focus or motion capture at more than 10 feet no matter how sensitive I set it.. Just get a bunch of pics of cats. Would love to ambush them but dont have the patience to sit there for 3-4 days till they hit and I wouldnt be lucky enough to have them hit on the first night. Gonna set the cam back up tonight and for the weekend and hope to catch them plus will buy a GOOD cam lock. Was tempted to take the time and hook up a plastic boat tank with some REAL bad gas in it and see whose car takes a crap but would prob be more work than I would like.

 

Better yet...put a five gallon plastic gas can out there (with a bow on top, lol), fill it with water and close the lid, then pour some gas over the top of the outside of the spout, to make it smell like gas. That'll ruin someones day.

 

Screw water, mix up some gas and sugar and leave that for him to steal.

 

We had a car come into the shop a while ago that had sugar and paint thinner in the gas. The paint thinner lubed up the sugar enough to let it pass through the filter and into the injectors. Mix that up and leave it in a can. I bet they won't do it anymore.

 

Yeah, except at that point, why waste even more money on good (expensive) gas? Water is much cheaper...

 

A lot of info on the net says "sugar in tank clogs injectors" is a myth because the sugar just falls to the bottom of the tank, maybe so, but not if you do it RIGHT.

Back in HS a friend of mine filled up a clear vinegar bottle with gas, added sugar, mixed up it with a swirling motion, I don't know if sugar dissolves in gas the way it does in water, but you could no longer see the sugar in the gas after mixing.

He poured it in someones tank, those people paid a fortune to the mechanic get that car running again.

 

sugar in the gas does work. Ive seen the aftermath. That will prob lead to them spiking my tank though.. Gotta think like them.. Till I get the cap fixed Im keeping the tank on less than 1/8 tank. only thing they will get from that is a buzz..

 

....Sounds like the easiest solution.

 

If I were closer, I'd gladly set up nearby and wait. Then have some fun with the dirtbags and roll out. I hate thieves more than any other sleazy people out there. No excuse for that crap when you're pulling it on the average person. Hope you catch em.

 

I really appreciate the willingness to help.. All I know is I have to do something to not only prevent them but to catch them and make an example of them.. My sis inlaw chased a teenager off in the middle of the night from trying to do the same thing.. Gotta make some progress on the situation.. Will do what I have to.. I too hate thieves to no extreme, bad enough stealing from people that have to means to replace but I have more than enough burdons of my own.

 

proximity switch on the fuel door hooked to an alarm. scare him away. and those cam locks suck just as bad as locking fuel caps. takes 10 seconds with a drill. jmho.

 

Well, things escalated. Chased someone off at 3am then went back to bed. Woke at 5am to get kids ready for school. After they left I went out to go see my parents for breakfast and all 4 tires were flat and finger swipes on my fuel door. I am waiting on the cops but I know there isnt anything they can do even though I know who the perp is. They were prob pissed Ive been keeping my tank empty. Looks like Im looking for a decent security camera system as soon as I can afford one. Will let you know what the police say but already know.

Police just left said he was gonna see if the suspects have an alibi for 3-6am.. On further inspection my tires are slashed.. 4 31" tires gone.. 2 had less than 1k miles on them Nexxen. Im so pissed Im shaking but I know there isnt anything I can do about it. legally]

Destruction of property to that level should be good to put them away for a few nights, no?
