Default Need opinions on a 2000 xj!

So I recently totaled my 98 cherokee (cop had his lights on going the opposite way i was, i was following a FORD owner and he jacked right up on his brakes. I had no time to stop so i swerved to the right, got into the sand and wham right into a guard rail. Im luckily alright but the jeep wasnt. both airbags went so and inspection up in december so no point in fixing her ) so im in need of a new one. One local guy sells cars that have been in fender benders from florida and ships them up here to rhode island and sells them. Its a 2000 xj with about 160k on it for $3800. And the thing is CLEAN. Would that be the going rate for a truck like that? Sorry I couldnt get any pics when i looked at it. Also I think it may have a dana 44 rear end in it? Did those come stock in the xj's? Anyways, would that be a good deal? It seems a little high price wise for a higher mileage truck, even though the 4.0 is like just getting broke in at that mileage. Thanks in advance guys, and sorry about the book I just made you read!

In my opinion, $3800 is high. Even if it hadn't been in a "fender bender" or any type of accident. I wouldn't pay anything above $3k even if it was in immaculate shape. That being said, I don't know what clean XJs are selling for in your area.

Also it wouldn't have come stock with a dana 44. What leads you to believe that's what it has under it?

Im not an expert on vehicles, I know enough but not everything (I am a carpenter not a mechanic) but from what it looks like, the pumpkin cover looks to be one from the 44 and it also has the heavy duty axles because its a sport.

The big problem with the 00-01 xj is they have a head that is known for cracking if its drove overheating. On the axles the dana 44 rear was only used in the late 80s with a tow package. On the 00 its a dana 30 front and the rear is a dana 35 if it has abs if its none abs its a chrysler 8.25.
