I cant say anything about the truck lights. You should definitely upgrade the headlight harness. It makes a big difference even with stock headlights.

LEDs do not require the harness.

The harness is a supplemental one bTW, and is easy to install.

don't upgrade to any non-LED lights without doing the harness.

I'm fixing to do the lights myself in the next week or so. Going with a harness, probably Hella Ecode housings and maybe get some 90/100 bulbs to compare with the 55/60s.

I have Truck-lites in mine and love them. They do not flicker. I do have to say, if you live in an area where it snows, LED lights are not the route to go. They wont melt the snow off.

those are dot approved? Aren't those the lights that many say throw light all over the place and not controlled?

The DOT doesn't approve anything. Very common misconception.

Bottom line: those are TERRIBLE lights.

OP, read this thread, please. I put a lot of work into it for people just like you.

That's what they told me when I ordered them anyway. No they aren't that bad. Not like an hid in a halogen housing. I did aim them down just a little bit. I haven't had anyone flash me at all either. My stock headlights were horrible. Especially on back roads

They're great lights actually. Especially when you see people throwing an hid in a halogen housing blinding everyone. The light is definitely more controlled. For a an xj I couldn't see spending that kind of money on the truck lites. Nothing against truck lights. That's why I had in my jk. I'm happy with the purchase. I wouldn't recommend if I was blinding everyone or I had issues with them.

Just because they're not as awful as something you think is more awful doesn't make them great. I'm sorry to poo-poo your purchase, but headlights affect everyone's safety, and there are objective ways of determining their efficacy, so it's not just a matter of opinion.
