Getting ready to swap a "new" transfer case into my XJ and am wanting to at least replace the input and rear output seal since the XJ it came out of had been sitting for 5 years and the seals are dryrotted.

Rear seal is a no brainer, and front REPLACEMENT will be too, but Autozone says I need two input seals... WTF?

I just need one, correct?

 

yea iirc there's the input and output. Unless they mean the output housing seal. Not sure but I just rebuilt mine and did a sye not too long ago.

 

Went to AutoZone and picked up the seals. The ****** argued with me saying it has 2 seals and that they both had to be replaced. I told him to just give me the one input seal and an output seal, and he gave me the input seal and a seal for God only knows what. It was big enough I could stick my hand through it. I had to make him look it back up again and do an exchange. 30 minutes in the store to pick up two seals.

 

I'm lucky enough to have an advance auto where 3 employees drive xjs lol. One of them is a mean 99 with a 4.7 stroker. If they know anything about vehicles, they def know about jeep Cherokees lol. Didyou at least get what you needed?

 

The Advance here sucks. O'Reilly's all the way.

 

For some reason O'Reillys advertises in my area but the closest store is 1 hour away in a different state.

Also advanced swore I was wrong when I told them my jeep has the bigger factory rear, and that I was lying and had swapped it in. (stock toothpick44)
