Default Need Advice

Hey all:
I'm faced with a decision. I have a 2000 Jeep Cherokee Classic 6cyl 4dr. I like my Jeep but I have some financial considerations as well. The question is, "Dump $4000 to get the Jeep fixed or dump the Jeep?" Needs new AC/Heat, new brakes, engine light wont go off (nobody can figure out why) rust starting to show on the gutters and doors, needs minor body work, passenger windows switches need replacing, center console broke loose, seats are sprung, needs new tires in about 500 miles and a tune and all fluids changed. The engine and tranny are in grreat shape. All this before I do a lift kit. SO..... thoughts anyone?

Winter beater/random parts truck. Go pickup another cherokee for a grand and start there. Yours sounds like there is too much work just to make it ok on the street/trails. I did that years ago with a honda crx.. Blown motor, rust, bad trans, gremlins in all the wires.. I sank over 5k into it and never got it goin right. After i parted it i bought a decent one and started somewhere with a foothold. Made it alot easier and less stressful. Just my .02

That doesn't sound like $4000 to me, my heat doesn't work (needs heater core $100)
Brakes all around are easy wont cost that much (shoes or drums will cost like 20-25 a peice)
My check engine light is on needs 02 sensor (doesn't cost that much but I dont know what problem you have)
Seats you could always go to a junk yard to buy some or drop about $150-200 a peice for decent ones
Rust you could go buy a riveter and rivets for $20 and buy sheet metel than some bondo and paint, sand paper
Most expensive thing here is the tires where I get my retreads for $300 mounted and balanced but tires are usually expensive.
Its a jeep everything is easy to replace, id say fix it up or parts jeep

It really all comes down to how much you really like your jeep! Most of the problems are just maintenance and wear witch is normal. just unlucky that it's all happening at once got any pics of the rust spots ? Might not be as bad as you may think.

Um your not going to get much for it if you try to sell it and Im guessing this is your daily driver. So if your talking about getting somthing new I guess you have the cash to do so? Unless you thinking of using the cash from selling this to fund another car? In that case your still not going to have much..

If you do have the funds to buy another do it and keep the jeep to fix up slowly. If you dont have the funds then u need to keep the jeep and fix it up slowly. It actually dont sound like theres anything to major wrong with it..

Spend a year get it road worthy then start worrying about lift kits and big tires...
Just my opinion

Thank you all for the great replies. I'm gonna junk it. The best part is that I still owe $6000 on it. But I'm gonna included it in my bankruptcy and give it back to the dealer.
Thanks again all.
