nates 4x4
to sum up all questions in one post; ordered a rear bumper from JCR about 2-3 years ago when i was starting out with my jeep, waited for almost two months without receiving it, called and they had lost my order so they sent me someone else's. after getting it and installing it, it did not line up right on my XJ, one side fit higher than the other which caused the tailgate to not properly close. got rid of it and returned to a stock bumper w/ a hitch. a friend of mine had a set of sliders that did not properly line up on his XJ, and you guys wouldn't do anything to help him. another friend of mine had a similar situation to what i had in waiting a long time for 1 ton steering, i think he kept being told that it would be shipped out soon every time he called, got it and it did not properly fit his XJ so he had to pay additional money at a shop to make it fit.
this is in no way meant to be bashing the quality of work you guys do. i have heard many good things about the quality of your companies work and customer service. just from my personal experience and what i saw with two of my friends, i can honestly say i was kinda disappointed because it came highly recommended when i was looking for a bumper to buy. like i said, not trying to bash or give you guys a bad wrap, but you all asked so i gave an honest explanation, and maybe my experience and my friends was just a strange occurrence, because most other people have nothing but good things to say.

As for your bumper, I wish you would have contacted us when you had problems. We would have fixed it/sent you a new one. We make everything by hand and errors do happen.
I encourage anyone that has any issues with our stuff to contact us immediately. If we don't know about your problems we can't fix them! And trust me, we will fix it!

I ordered a bumper off of nates and it never came. Tried to call him many times he spoke to me twice. Once to place the order and once to say it was on its way. That being said, he never hit my debit card up for the money either so all I lost was time.

this was a mass email from nate, not sure if anyone else here got it,
With turnaround times approaching three months as recently as November of this year, I decided it was time to do something drastic to catch up on the old and keep up with the new orders. In late October 2009 I made a phone call to nearly 100 customers who had orders pending with Nates4x4 company informing them of my plan. I hired on some of the guys who had worked for me in the past and together we spent the next three weeks knocking out bumper after bumper. From Thursday, November 19 to Monday, November 23, we made three massive shipments, completely clearing our backlog of Bumper orders. Since that time I have been working alone and keeping up on all current orders, shipping within 3-4 business days of the sale.
In addition to clearing my backlog, I have also changed the way we process sales. Credit cards are no longer processed up front. They are typically charged the day before or the day of shipment. When you see the transaction go through you can rest assured that your order will be shipping within 24 hours. Due to increasing interest in using Discover cards, we are now accepting Visa, MasterCard, and Discover on all orders.
Clearing out the backlog has also helped me to spend more time on customer service. You will find that emails are answered and phone calls are returned within 24 hours. It also allows for more time during the manufacturing process for finishing work. Each product goes through a quality control check where all welds are wire brushed, all excess spatter is removed, and all sharp edges are double checked to ensure they have been beveled with a sanding wheel.
>From this point I am making a commitment to myself and to my loyal customers to keep up on orders, shipping within one week or less of their order date. It has been almost one month since this change has been in effect and the results are a smoother operation and happier clientele. I am excited for the future of the company, and am making plans to expand into new products and services for 2010.
Many thanks go out to my customers this past year who have been more than patient with the unusually long turnaround times.
Happy Holidays,
Nate

We have always operated under 12-15 business days of lead time for our products (that is 3 weeks) and then 3-5 days for UPS ground. So one month wait. We don't do this because we are sitting on our hands, it's because of sheer volume of our orders. We have since snipped all of lead times down and continue to work towards having inventory.

I appreciate the concern but as to not take this thread in a different direction I will PM you.

well got home today to see my new bumper, and wow, its awesome, i love it! Welds are clean and well done, endges are ground down nicely, and it seems to be very beefy and strong. Temps here havent been the greatest so i had to paint it in my buddys garage. After the paint was dry enough to handle (couldnt wait to see it,,,) I installed it on my jeep, all the holes lined up, all the bolts were correct and there, and the hardware I got for it from his site are definately overkill, they are all grade 8 and the one is like a 7/8" shank, so this bumper is not going ANYWHERE. Anyways, the bumper looks really good, quality is great, turn around time to get my order was very acceptable especially with the holiday weekend. Ill have pics of it tomorow to show everyone how it looks.

Old thread, but had to post this. Does anyone have his roof rack? If so, what do you think about it? Do you like it? If not, why don't you like it. Just want to see if I should get it or not. Here's the link to it if you never saw it, http://nates4x4.com/catalog/product_...products_id=91

I have his old style rack and I love it. It's well made and simple. I like that is modular, so I have both a full length and 3/4 rack in one. I plan on making the changes to it myself to make it more like his current rack.
ordered a bumper about 6 months ago. after about a month of waiting and a few calls a week my mom finally got an email and a call saying he was on "vacation". it was about 2 weeks later i got my bumper and i love it! no problems and even got a follow up email from him. good stuff if you just wait for it.

Spend the money on a welder and make your own bumpers, you will come out ahead in the long run. I already have a bumper from one of the two companies mentioned that dosn't fit, with the money I spent on one, I could have made two myself.
Lesson learned.

Called last Friday and ordered a rear bumper, picked it up today, looks great, can't wait to paint and install it. No problems at all, but I drove to Midland to pick it up and paid cash. He has several front bumpers sitting around if you're looking for one, give him a call I think he really wants to move them.
