Default Mystery Mounts

So I have these hitch reciever-type mounts (except smaller) on the front of my jeep, below and behind the bumper, and I'm not sure what they're for. I initially thought they were for a brush guard or tow hooks, but after looking around I haven't seen anything that would mount that way, so maybe they're for some kind of tow-behind application????

I'd kinda like to know what they're for, so any insight would be appreciatied.

It's hard to tell from the picture, but there are TWO brackets, about 2 ft apart

My guess would be at one time your XJ spent time behind a Motor Home on the road.

Looks like it for hooking up a tow bar.

Ok, thanks! I thought it might be a tow bar mount, but I'd almost ruled out a snow plow.

Since a snow plow would be considerably more useful than a tow bar, I guess I'll look into it

might be a mount for a rack, for a cooler or something alike

Sorry if you can't see the pic - it's there I promise.

I would try to fix it, but I have no idea how, since some people can see it and some can't

Anyway, thank you to all the people who can see it and gave me some suggestions

...I was also wondering if those mounts look supported enough to mount, or be used as, recovery points if I could figure out a way to attach hooks or d-rings or something???
