You've answered your own question. That body is as good as a taco, it happens. It's time to yank everything off and send it to off to the scrap yard. Once you start tearing apart the unibody there is no point in trying to fix it.

This is the cheapest solution, yes. Also that way I'd be maximizing its potential... I guess I can always transfer a lift kit from XJ to XJ if mine eventually dies...

If your not up for it then part it out and wait till another comes along. I assumed you were driving it bent and it was not bad? Personally I would pull the tranny and put a new front trans seal, and put a new rear main seal in as well. Then again I would fab a custom shackle to level the rear, as long as its straight. Pull the alt apart and buy new bushings.
It does sound simple when exposed like that. I'd struggle to do it but in the end I would have done lots of work to maintain it, until something else broke!

I'm not sure about transferring the motor... mine is very old, used and I'm not sure if it has been properly maintained in the past. Then again I'm not sure if another XJ will be in ultimately better shape although it would have lower mileage.

Anyway, thanks for your advice!

Indeed, it looks like it fought its war! But it feels like it's still full of life!

I'm really mixed about this issue. I'm so scared of letting it go, my first car! I've never done this! lol

I'm not even sure about what I WANT to do: I'm tired of worrying about the bent frame and want to get a sane body BUT I don't want to part with it sentimentally!

Also, financially, it would cost me more to buy another XJ because mine is worth very little in its state...

urgh...

J'aimerais avoir votre plate-forme. Dans n'importe quelle condition. Gardez-le, le fixer et d'apprendre tout ce que vous pouvez sur le sujet. Vous ne le regretterez pas.

I'm not sure about what you mean precisely, but I get the main idea. Keep it, restore it!
