Default My Rattle Can Job

Here is the first half of my rattle can job. Laying the paint on thick, using about a can a door, 2 cans on the hood. Going to get some window tint in the near future, also going to re-do the door-handles black. Right now the lower trim part is just painted black and it looks rough, going to get some herculiner and clean it up.. What do ya think so far?

Drink beer, wash, cover in acetone, let sit and dry, sand, re-wash, tape off areas, paint.... In that order. I skipped the acetone and you can tell on my hood, I have spots that look glossy from grese under the paint, even washing it wouldnt help. I used cheap sand paper....like 150 grit, and did a real half-*** job sanding, just made sure everything was even. Make long smooth strokes with the can/gun. If you get a run...either wipe it immediately, blow it smooth, or let it dry sand and re-do.... Id suggest starting up on your roof to ensure your gonna be satisified with the color. My trick for the emblems and what not was just stick a piece of tape flat over it and leave the edges open, this allows paint to hit the top of the emblem but not the face, making it look like they were taken off and replaced when your finished. Some guys said they just went to painting, no prep. But I watched my grandpa restore old muscle cars...prep is everything. Take your time and commit to it.

So how many cans of paint all together? To do the whole truck.

Also did you just prep and paint with color you choose, Or did you prime any first? Or use any rust inhibitor?

About 10-13 cans I think, basic prep no prime. If it starts to fade or chip im gonna paint it a darker green but I think it'll hold up good

Its hard to actually get my camera to pickup the color. In some light it looks different than in the pics. I kinda wish I would have gone darker but I guess its a good color.
