solid 16mpg numbers! haven't regapped the plugs or anything.

 

I get 16 with a 4.9L/300cid stroker motor. 3:31 gears and 31x10.50r15 MTs. Has as much get up and go as my buddy's 4.0 w/4.10s and 33s.

Just for kicks I am going to reset the fuel trims for the cold weather and ****ty winter gas and see what happens. I have a VERY consistent 16 avg. so I will defiantly see a difference if there is one to be found.

 

On the Renix system (will work for H.O. also) when I relocated the IAT sensor I left the other one in the manifold. In the colder months I plug the manifold one back in.

 

i just add gas when it needs it lol gotta be under 14mpg though

 

Mines a stock 4.0L Linited SE with 65k miles we get 22mpg 2 WD 15-19mpg 4WD

That's a serious rig right there.

 

I just made the round trip to Memphis yesterday. Put around 300 miles on it. Got 12.25 MPG out of a 350/700R4 with stock 3.55 gears and 31's. Kept it right around 74-75 most of the time. Gonna head to Nashville tomorrow so it'll be another 360+ miles and a big hit to the wallet.

 

great thread! i've recently started looking at my mpg and it seems ok to me, maybe around 17......stock everything on this thing.

Bone stock 1998 XJ 4.0L that runs and idles perfectly. Or so it seems.

Just refilled my first tank of gas.
With mostly neighborhood/city driving. I got 8.8 mpg.
I accelerate very gently, as well.

Horrendous. I thought these pigs did 15-20.
I guess I need to throw parts at it.
Tune up, O2, exhaust manifold
