Default My MPG Thread

First and final, I will never...ever drive a Honda even for MPG

I bought my 2nd XJ on the 4th of July and have since done some maintenance and mods which I will list. Its a 3in lifted 98 on 31x10.5 General Grabbers
I started keeping track of my MPG with the FUELLY app on my android. It has been very consistent.

MODS and Maint.
IAC moved to box
Full tune up (cap, rotor, wires and champ plugs)
703 injectors (then cleaned them at my shop, runs on cleaner)
it has a CHOKEmaster muffler (nickname from F-body world)
I reset my PCM when I got the truck after the injectors
Airhog filter and extra air inlet holes in the box
Home ported TB
MOBIL1 oil change
ATF changed
TC fluid changed
electric fan (mechanical removed)
2 row radiator

I think that is it for what the MPG represent in the sig link

Now, I have a banks look a like header and a 99+ intake going on hopefully this weekend. Since with endless searching no one reports anything other than a small post that says "yeah its better"

I will be reporting on the MPG differences that these two components offer

Current before the 99+ and Header is:

16.6 Running MPG Avg
16 Fuel-Ups
17.8 Best MPG
4,406.6 Miles Tracked

I drive 70 miles a day with close to 60 of that being expressway

Wish i could get 16 mpg. You get double my mileage. Always been a truck guy and always driven something that doesn't get over 12 mpg( My last vehicle was a dodge ram).

About 6 years ago, I picked up a 1994 Dodge spirit for $500. 4 banger front wheel drive. Which I been using for my work (and errands) car. I figured I save $2000-$3000 a year in gas money alone, over driving My XJ daily. Also saved putting on the added mileage on the XJ. Which in part is why, I now have a 21 year old Cherokee, With only 71,000 miles on it. I'm glad I bought that beater Dodge. It has payed for it self ten fold. And still is. You may try to solve your terrible gas millage problem, anyway you wish. That was my answer. If I could find an old Honda CRX, I would buy it in a Heartbeat.

I have a 99 4.0 aw4 231. I have a spectre CAI (cowl), ACCEL tune up kit, Thrush glasspack, and replacement tailpipe not mandrel bent 202k miles. Stock height and tires. I avg 17 mpg with mixed driving and a relatively heavy foot. Recently took a trip to VA Beach. I avg 23 mpg and peaked at 26.8 mpg. I was shocked. That was also with a shorted out post cat O2.

My 91 when it was on the road I avg 13 mpg. I could get 14 if I was a grandma with it. It had a 4" lift and 31" MTs, 703 injectors, glass pack and 314k miles.
