I just bought a 4wd Jeep for the winter. Should I use 4hi for the heavy snow? Our biggest snow storm usually gets us 3-4 feet. What about the slushy/nasty stuff?

Use four low for going slow and getting Un stuck! And for just driving around use four high.. When I got my jeep I hadn't driven a 4x4 in a couple years forgot about what rear wheel drive did! I was turning left at a busy intersection in the core I had lots of time to make the turn but you know when you slide around a corner and you have that sort of hang time till your rear end catches up to you? Crap that almost gave me a heart attack!!! And I was like oh yeah I used to think this stuff was fun!! Ha ha still do nothing like driving side ways down your street!

Its been a while since Ive been in 4wd too. I watched videos of XJ's in the snow and they seemed to do well. Are they a capable snow storm vehicle with the 4wd/bigger all terrain tires?

if you don't drive in the snow often go to a parking lot (empty) and do some donuts. lean how your rig is going to handle/spin out/slip at what speed and what range of turning. plus it's fun as H E double hockey sticks

Put more weight in the back.. a tote full of sand is good. Plus it will also be great if you get stuck in snow. Also drive slower.
The 4wd setting is not made for on pavement use...
And youre wearing your tires quicker.... and your sacrificing handling. Dont do this.
If youre referring to ABS brakes the previous owner did you a favor. I refuse to drive a car in the snow equipped with ABS.

Last winter we had two snowstorms in a week, back to back, and they couldn't keep up with plowing the roads so I just left mine in 4wd the whole week, that was some s**ty milage (below 10mpg, and my rig was stock then).
