Within the last couple weeks i've had to drop over $400 into the brakes on my jeep...master cylinder, wheel cylinders, calipers, pads, rotors, shoes, and now drums...long story short...my brakes kept acting up on me, would go near to floor before they would catch...and one day they finally just went out(ya that was fun)...but anyway i had a feeling it was the calipers(seen a leak when i changed the pads) so i replaced them and that did near nothing...so i got a used master cylinder out of the u pull it here in town...and that helped for a little while but eventually went to crap again...so i was so frustrated i took it to a shop and told them to find out what is wrong with it and fix it...so turns out the wheel cylinders where bad and the master cylinder was no good....so that was $300...after that was done the rear brake shoes needed replaced so i replaced them and now i have a terrible and quite embarrassing squeek...so now off to changing the drums(which i thought i could get away without doing)...and in the middle of this squeek i hear an exhuast leak
so i crawl under the jeep to see what it is and the damn header downpipe is cracked on the bottom side...so i welded it back together, and the next day the whole pipe from my weld around comes completely detached
...so now i have a squeek and a terrible exhaust leak...$110 for drums and $150 for a new header...The saying Just Empty Every Pocket is becoming all to true.

That sucks man, but got remember it is a 20 year vehicle, things a bound to fail at some point and just with any old rig you're never going to get back what you put into, that's why I plan on never getting rid of my xj : ) haha hope you have better luck though, I understand everything crapping out at once can be overwhelming, sounds like my bad luck. Sending positive vibes your way. haha

I've had a couple chances to trade it for a decent pickup....but no matter how much the jeep pisses me off i still cant bring myself to actually getting rid of it...thought i may be able to if i found a decent pickup, but that has yet to happen...its coming off CL today, after putting this much money into it i'd much rather keep itl
With new parts you should be good to go for a while. Patch jobs and used hydraulic parts are not gonna last. Rear brakes should last about 100,000 miles if done correctly (new cylinders, shoes and a drum resurface). Front brakes can vary but with a quality set of pads and resurfaced rotors , calipers greased at slide points, etc you should get 30-40,000 or so. Hydraulic parts like a master aren't gonna last forever. A reman or new MC is the only way to go.
